At Nimble, we want to plant a very clear flag in the ground, right now: this is a company whose mission is to begin to heal the damage done by the war on drugs. Where we can most quickly put our money where our mouths are is in hiring diverse talent, and donating money and time to organizations that advance equity. 

 

We pledge to train, hire and help grow the skills and education of people most affected by cannabis’ long and unjust prohibition in America. We are building new relationships with organizations that work closely with communities affected by the war on drugs. We are developing training programs for those recently incarcerated, and hiring initiatives for those recently off of probation and parole for drug-related offenses. 

 

We aim to create a fund that our employees can leverage to further their education, because we know that will make them better members of our team and better members of their families and communities, whether employed by us or not.  

 

We know this mission will evolve. But it’s important to us to start somewhere, and to start somewhere specific, and profound. We are actively recruiting employees who have criminal backgrounds. Crazy, right? Except, it isn’t. There’s ample research to suggest that employees who have faced the harsh consequences of the (in) justice system are smarter, more loyal and reliable than those of us who’ve been riding the coattails of white privilege all our lives.

 

We’re so serious about second-chance employment that before we launched this page, we built connections with a number of organizations that work with people who are formerly incarcerated, and we hired a consultant with ample experience on the subject. We’re working hard to broaden engagement with this community and build trust.
